Critical Neuroscience

One focus of our research is a critical reflection of the paradigms and their underlying basic anthropological assumptions applied in research. This includes a critique of anthropological and neurobiological categories (e.g. reification of ethnic differences via controversial constructs such as "race"), a critical reflection of models of mental disorders and their interaction with contemporary ideologies (e.g. before World War I or during NS) and an ethnological and sociological reflection on knowledge generation and predominant research strategies in psychiatry and neuroscience.
