Treatment and prevention of pathological gambling in Berlin

From 2013-2017, the research group "Behavioral addictions" conducted a study on "Treatment and prevention of pathological gambling in Berlin", which was funded by the Berlin senate administration. The study focussed on the improvement of the available information on treatment options for subjects with pathological gambling in Berlin. It also included basic research on learning mechanisms as well as decision-making in gambling behavior and its alterations in gambling disorder. In 2011, the research group "Behavioral addictions" conducted a study on "Use of slot machines in Berlin", funded by the Berlin senate administration, which collected data on regional usage patterns and its relation to disordered gambling.

Implications of biopsychosocial underpinnings of gambling disorder

In 2009 - 2010, the research group "Behavioral addictions" conducted a study on "Implications of biopsychosocial underpinnings of gambling disorder", which was funded by the Berlin senate administration. The study focussed on different aspects of neurobiological correlates of gambling behavior (reward and loss processing, loss aversion etc.) as well as psychosocial factors and its relation to the development of gambling disorder.
