Florian Schlagenhauf studied medicine and philosophy at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf. He completed his clinical training in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Charité Universitaetsmedizin Berlin. From 2012 until 2017 he was group leader of the Max Planck Fellow Group ‘Cognitive and affective control of behavioural adaptation’ at the Max-Planck-Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences Leipzig. Since 2017 Florian Schlagenhauf is Heisenberg professor for “Reinforcement learning dysfunction in neuropsychiatric disorders” at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Campus Mitte of the Charité. He is medical head of the early recognition centre for psychotic disorders (FeTZ) and head of the research group Learning & Cognition. His group investigates basic learning and cognitive functions in psychiatric disorders with a focus on schizophrenia and addiction using behavioral learning and decision-making paradigms in combination with computational modelling and multimodal imaging (fMRI, EEG, PET).
