Expertise
Antonia Bendau studied Psychology at the University of Potsdam (2013 - 2019). Since her graduation, she has been working as a research associate at the Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (CCM) of the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. She is particularly involved in the research group for anxiety disorders as well as the research group for sports psychiatry and sports psychotherapy under the direction of Prof. Dr. Andreas Ströhle. She is currently doing her PhD in this research context.
Her current research focus lies on the investigation of the psychological effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis of variables of psychological stress and the identification of potential resilience and risk factors in this context should also serve to derive appropriate preventive and therapeutic interventions. She has already published several scientific articles on this topic in international peer-reviewed journals and is also a reviewer for several international journals.
The investigation of the potential of physical activity in the prevention and treatment of mental disorders forms the second central research focus of Antonia Bendau. In this context, she is currently conducting a project to investigate the psychological effects of electromyostimulation whole-body workouts. She is also involved in the development of interventions to promote the initiation and maintenance of a healthy amount of physical activity.
