Philip Stötzner completed his doctorate at the Charité at the Department of Anesthesiology Campus Benjamin Franklin under Prof. Machelska with an electrophysiological thesis in the field of pain research.
He completed his clinical training as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Charité Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy in St. Hedwig Hospital, the Department of Neurology with Experimental Neurology at the Charité Campus Virchow-Klinikum, and at the Berliner Institut für Psychotherapie und Psychoanalyse (Berlin Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis). His clinical focus is on gerontological psychiatry and psychotherapeutic work with people who have experienced psychosis.
As a research fellow of the AG Klinische Gerontopsychiatrie und -psychotherapie (Research Group Geriatric Psychiatry and Psychotherapy), he is involved in the topics of dementia diagnostics and polypharmacy optimization.
