Magdalena Seethaler studied Medicine at the Ludwig Maximilian University and the Technical University of Munich i.a. with a clinical rotation at the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zürich, Switzerland, and scientific commitment at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich. She started her scientific career with her doctoral thesis on "Analysis of duration of epileptic seizures by means of invasive EEG-recording" at the Department of Neurology of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. After receiving her M.D. degree, she worked as a research fellow at the Psychiatry Neuroimaging Laboratory of Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. She joined a project on investigation of neuroimaging in schizophrenia, i.a. granted with a Carl Duisberg Fellowship from the Bayer Foundation. In 2020, she started her residency in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Psychiatric University Clinic of Charité at St. Hedwig Hospital, Berlin. She now is a clinician scientist in the AG Gerontopsychiatrie und -psychotherapie
and i.a. carries out a study on psychotic illnesses in elderly. She is funded by the Lydia-Rabinowitsch-Förderung and the BIH Charité Junior Clinician Scientist Program.
